Frequently asked questions

What makes Division 1 different from other cybersecurity companies?

Most providers focus purely on tech - firewalls, scans, monitoring. We go further by blending AI-powered tools with philosophical principles to deliver ethical resilience. AI spots threats faster than humans ever could, but philosophy ensures those tools respect privacy, avoid bias, and build team strength instead of fear. The result? Defenses that protect your data and your people, long-term.

Why bring philosophy into cybersecurity?

Cyber threats aren't just technical - they're psychological and ethical too. Ransomware attacks trigger panic, AI can accidentally invade privacy, and constant alerts burn out teams. We draw from Stoicism (for calm under pressure), Aristotelian logic (for smart risk decisions), and other timeless ideas to train your people and design your systems. It’s not woo-woo; it’s proven mindset training paired with modern AI to make your security sustainable and human-centered.

Do I need to be "into philosophy" to work with you?

Nope. You just need to want smarter, more reliable security. We handle the philosophy side quietly in the background - translating ancient wisdom into practical tools, training, and decisions - so you get the benefits without reading Plato.

Are you Fortinet experts / partners?

Yes – D1 is an authorized Fortinet Engage Partner. We specialize in FortiGate firewall integrations, FortiSIEM, FortiEDR, FortiSandbox, and full Fortinet Security Fabric deployments. Many of our team members hold Fortinet certifications, and we regularly perform configuration reviews, implementations, and management of Fortinet environments.

Do you resell Fortinet products or licenses?

Yes – as an official Fortinet Engage Partner, we are authorized to resell the full Fortinet portfolio (FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiClient, FortiSIEM, FortiEDR, FortiSandbox, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiGuard subscriptions). We handle procurement, licensing, and renewals.

How long does a penetration test typically take?

Standard penetration tests take 2–4 weeks from kickoff to final report. Larger red team or enterprise assessments can take 6–12 weeks depending on scope and complexity.

What’s the difference between penetration testing, red teaming, and vulnerability scanning?

- Vulnerability scanning: Automated tool-based scans

- Penetration testing: Manual + automated testing with real exploitation

- Red teaming: Full-scope covert operation mimicking an advanced adversary (social engineering, physical intrusion attempts, persistence, etc.)

Do you offer retesting after we fix issues?

Yes — every engagement has the option of a retest of findings within 90 days of report delivery.

Where are you located and who can you work with?

D1 is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. We serve SMB clients across the United States.

Can you help with NIST, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or other compliance?

Yes — we provide gap assessments, remediation guidance, and documentation support so most clients pass their audits on the first attempt.

What if you find a critical vulnerability during testing?

We notify you immediately (usually same day) with clear mitigation steps, even before the final report.
